Coco Gauff is set to play her first tournament since winning the US Open and she has learned her projected path to winning the China Open in Beijing. Gauff, seeded at No 3, starts against Ekaterina Alexandrova. If Gauff beats Alexandrova, she will meet Petra Martic in the second round, who already won her first-round match against Sorana Cirstea.

In the Beijing round-of-16, Gauff is projected to meet a seeded player for the first time – No 16 seed Veronika Kudermetova. In the Beijing quarterfinal, Gauff is projected to meet sixth-seeded Maria Sakkari. The Beijing semifinal could be a rematch of the 2022 French Open final as Gauff is projected to meet Iga Swiatek there.

If Gauff reaches the Beijing final, that could possibly be a rematch of this year’s US Open final between the American and world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
