The Fall 2024 season of New York Fashion Week is officially in full swing. Yesterday, the fashion pack looked to Peter Do to open up the month-long fashion proceedings with his sophomore collection for Helmut Lang. For the Fall 2024 season, the designer dug into the archives, and used Lang’s Spring 2003 collection as a major point of reference. Do set his mind upon reimagining the famous bubble wrap jacket, in addition to the “Chinatown bag” print and Lang’s vibrant orange knits from the same season. Models like Kirsten Owen and Irina Shayk helped bring Do’s collection to life, parading through a gauze-covered show space, which was held on location at the historic Williamsburg Saving Bank.

It’s very hard to understand that this show is worse than Do’s debut, it’s even more tortured and he still doesn’t have an eye for color. All the archival pieces were also too literal. At least now we know that Do is not that talented, and Helmut Lang as a brand is yet another zombie.” [perhydrol]
