Haiti will play at the Women’s World Cup for the first time after beating Chile 2-1 in a qualifying play-off.
Melchie Dumonay’s double secured victory at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland and booked a surprise place at this summer’s tournament for the side ranked 55th in the world.
Haiti will join England, Denmark and China in Group D at the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which starts on July 20.
Sarina Wiegman’s European champions will be Haiti’s first group opponents on July 22 in Brisbane.
Dumonay opened the scoring for Haiti at the stroke of half time with a powerful strike into the top corner as she finished off a fine team move and celebrated with a back-flip.
Haiti captain Nerilia Mondesir had a penalty kick saved in the 89th minute but soon made amends as she set up Dumonay, who doubled their lead in the eighth minute of stoppage time
Maria Rojas found the net for Chile soon after following a goalkeeping error, but it proved a mere consolation.

Portugal also qualified for the tournament after a 2-1 victory over Cameroon.
