Gym memberships could be on the decline, according to study

Date:

We can probably all agree that trying to work out in the gym at the beginning of January is never ideal. We love encouraging more people to get active, but there can be various barriers to having an enjoyable and productive strength training session. Overcrowding, broken workout equipment, and lack of communication with staff are all reasons why you might decide that lacing up and going for a run outside is the better option.

According to a 2022 end-of-year survey, a massive 67% of Brits admit to putting off going to the gym, with millennials the most likely to do so (73%).

Understanding this, the fitness experts at Geezers Boxing have analysed UK data to find out what the most common gym complaints were in 2022. Helping to identify what exactly might stop people from working out in 2023.

After analysing over 1800 Trustpilot reviews across 8 of the UK’s most popular gym chains, the study shows that gym memberships and price issues are the biggest complaint for UK gym goers. With 42% of reviews referencing this complaint and with the cost of living continuously increasing in the UK, this problem looks as though it might be here to stay.
