The PGA Tour and the LPGA unveiled the Grant Thornton Invitational on Wednesday, a new mixed-team event where players will compete together in a co-sanctioned tournament. Here’s what you need to know:
- The inaugural event will be played Dec. 8-10 at Tiburón Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón.
- A 32-player field (16 golfers from each Tour) will compete for equal prize money of $4 million.
- It will mark the first annual mixed-team competition since 1999, when John Daly and Laura Davies won the final edition of the JCPenney Classic.
- Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, Cameron Champ, Nelly Korda, Jess Korda and Mel Reid are among the players who announced their participation in the event Wednesday.
