LAS VEGAS — Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd said it was a “plan” of hers to go for the 2023 WNBA All-Star MVP award. Plus, her niece and nephew wanted her to claim the showcase’s top individual honor, and Loyd wanted to mark the occasion of her parents’ 40th anniversary. She surely satisfied her family, as well as the sellout crowd in attendance at Michelob ULTRA Arena, scoring an All-Star record 31 points in Team Stewart’s 143-127 win over Team Wilson. The league’s leading scorer shined, hitting 10 3-pointers on a night in which the WNBA also welcomed Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner back to its annual event.
