Gotham FC is in advanced talks over a loan move for Manchester United’s Brazil forward Geyse.
United hope to reach a deal with the National Women’s Soccer League club in the coming days. The 2025 NWSL season begins on March 14 and the league’s transfer window shuts 10 days later.
A possible move to Gotham arrives after options for a potential switch to North America were mooted during the January transfer window. Geyse, who joined United from Barcelona in 2023 for a club-record fee, went back to Brazil on compassionate leave in January following the death of her brother. She returned to the club at the start of February.
The 26-year-old came on as a substitute in the 84th minute of United’s 2-0 Women’s Super League (WSL) win against Leicester City on Sunday. After the match, Geyse shared a post on her Instagram account in which she described “an agonising and lonely feeling … where the simple fact of being there becomes a burden.” She did not specifically mention Manchester United.
Geyse’s post coincided with the allegation made by her agent to the Telegraph that United attempted to loan Geyse to other clubs while back home in Brazil attending her brother’s funeral in January. United deny the allegation. A statement from a United spokesperson read: “We…
