Gotham FC and Kristie Mewis mutually agree to part ways – Equalizer Soccer

Kristie Mewis and Gotham FC have agreed to mutually part ways to allow the midfielder to explore other opportunities. Mewis will sign with West Ham United, the team announced on Friday.

“I want to start by saying thank you. Thank you to the ownership and front office for your tireless hours behind the scenes, thank you to my teammates for teaching me what it’s like to believe again, thank you to the coaches for your contagious positivity, and thank you to our amazing fans who never gave up on us,” Mewis said in a statement. “Gotham has been the most rewarding community to be a part of for the last two years and will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m full of gratitude knowing the future is bright and I was able to be part of it. And most importantly, I’ll never forget our first championship, together.”

Mewis, an 11-year veteran of the NWSL, joined Gotham in December 2021. The midfielder has appeared in 39 games, recording 3,070 minutes, seven assists, and four goals across all competitions in her two full seasons with the…
