U.S. women’s national team and NWSL veteran Crystal Dunn is joining Gotham FC on a three year contract through 2026, the team announced Sunday.
The move is a return home for Dunn, who left Long Island as a teenager to pursue soccer at a higher level. Since then, she has amassed a World Cup trophy and an Olympic bronze medal, in addition to her multiple individual and team NWSL awards.
“Crystal is a high-caliber player and champion who brings amazing energy to everything she does, both on and off the field,” said Gotham FC General Manager, and Dunn’s former teammate, Yael Averbuch West. “Adding an incredible player like Crystal to our championship roster is an exciting step forward for the club and our fans.”
This will be Dunn’s 10th season in NWSL after getting drafted first overall out of the University of North Carolina by the Washington Spirit in 2014. The 31-year-old has also spent time with the Portland Thorns (2020-2023) and North Carolina Courage (2018-2020) in NWSL and Chelsea (2017-2018) in England. The three-time NWSL champion left the Thorns in November as a free agent.
The Athletic previously confirmed that the Orlando Pride were interested in Dunn but eventually no longer in contention despite making a “significant offer.”
