Day five of Paris Fashion Week, and The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s schedule granted us the anticipated debut collection of Sarah Burton as Givenchy creative director. The British designer spent over 25 years at Alexander McQueen, ultimately taking over from the revered designer upon his tragic passing in 2010. Subsequent to a year hiatus from the industry, Burton joined Givenchy in September 2024. Fast forward six months and the wait for Burton’s inaugural collection is over. The Central Saint Martins graduate reverted back to the original Hubert de Givenchy design ethos of cut, silhouette, and proportion. At the French fashion house’s salon on 3 Avenue Georges V, models displayed Burton’s take on archive-inspired looks – like a sharp tailored jacket reimagined from original patterns unearthed from Hubert’s archives.
