On Women’s Final Day there was plenty of surfing with three Aussies left in the mix starting with Round 3.

Stephanie Gilmore and Bronte Macaulay both progressed to the Quarter Finals at the WSL Open J Bay event.
Gilmore progressed from the 3rd round scoring 14.50 while fellow Australian Nikki Van Dijk was eliminated almost on the final wave, pipped at the post by American Sage Erickson.

The fourth heat then saw Macaulay score 13.34, finishing 2.06 behind Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb.

The heat featured a short delay following a shark sighting near the surfers. Jeffreys Bay on the Eastern Cape of South Africa is the location where Mick Fanning encountered a great white back in 2015.
