ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia receiver RaRa Thomas, who transferred from Mississippi State last month, was arrested early Monday morning and charged with one felony and one misdemeanor stemming from an incident with a female acquaintance at her dorm room.
According to an arrest warrant provided by UGA police, Thomas was accused of intentionally causing bodily harm, including bruises to the right bicep, and bruises and abrasions to her shins. That led to a misdemeanor charge of battery and family violence. Thomas was also charged with felony false imprisonment after the woman said he stood in front of her dorm room, blocking her exit and telling her she could not leave.
Thomas was booked into Athens-Clarke County jail at 4:04 a.m. on Monday and released on bond at 12:05 p.m. The total bond posted was $1,850.
Thomas posted a message to his Facebook account Monday afternoon: “Y’all know I’m not that type of person I know better than that my momma taught me well! I’ll never EVER put my hands on a female Gots to get away from social media.”
