Garmin’s role in the Polaris Dawn mission
Garmin, creators of some of the best running watches, will play an important role in the upcoming human spaceflight by providing highly accurate health data via the Garmin fēnix® 7 adventure watches. This data will provide 24/7 insights into the impact of space travel on the human body. Researchers will monitor and collect crew members’ biometrics such as heart rate, pulse oximetry, and sleep patterns.
Garmin recently updated features on several of its smartwatch releases, including the fēnix® 7 series.
Dan Bartel is Vice President of Global Sales at Garmin. “Garmin is honored to be a part of this exciting research effort. It will advance the understanding of how the human body adapts to the rigors of space flight. The exceptional battery life of our smartwatches is paramount. It will allow researchers the opportunity to continuously monitor all four crew members, with no down time needed to recharge the battery.”
