Garbine Muguruza withdraws from Indian Wells qualifying

Former world No 1 Garbine Muguruza has withdrawn from the upcoming WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells. Muguruza, who is now ranked at No 87 and set to exit the top-100 next Monday, started the 2023 season with four consecutive first-round losses.

In late January, Muguruza suffered a Lyon first-round defeat against Linda Noskova. After losing in Lyon and falling to a 0-4 record in 2023, Muguruza pulled out of Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai. Now, Muguruza is also out of the Indian Wells qualifying event.

Muguruza, a two-time Grand Slam champion, had a rough 2022 season, in which she went 12-17.

After a difficult 2022 season, Muguruza also got off to a rough start to the 2023 season.

When will Muguruza play again?

Muguruza was in Abu Dhabi but then pulled out on the day of her first-round match due to personal reasons.
