French Open tournament director Amelie Mauresmo thinks the possibility of Iga Swiatek reaching Rafael Nadal’s French Open heights cannot be ruled out. Swiatek, who turned 22 on May 31st, defeated Karolina Muchova 6-2 5-7 6-4 in this year’s French Open final to lift her third title at Roland Garros.
Swiatek is still very young but she already has three French Open titles in her collection. On the other side, 37-year-old Nadal – who missed this year’s French Open – is a record 14-time champion at Roland Garros. “Her record is very impressive, just like Rafa’s record was when he started.
Three titles in four editions is huge, it’s very impressive. I think we’re still a little bit far away from the 14 titles but, when Rafa started, no-one also thought he would get to 14 so anything can happen,” Mauresmo said, via The Independent.

In 2019, Swiatek made the French Open round-of-16 in her debut before losing to Simona Halep. The following year, Swiatek lifted her first Grand Slam title after beating Sofia Kenin in the 2020 French Open final.
