Damir Džumhur gave second seed Carlos Alcaraz a bit of a fright on Philippe-Chatrier in yesterday’s late match, but the Spaniard battled middling form and consistency to beat the plucky unseeded Bosnian in four sets.
Earlier in the men’s singles, Americans Frances Tiafoe (15), Tommy Paul (12), and Ben Shelton (13) progressed, with Arthur Fils (14) pulling out due to injury.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka (1), defending champion Iga Świątek, and Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen (8) moved into the last 16 too.
