Free-agent WNBA forward/center Azurá Stevens is signing with the Los Angeles Sparks, according to multiple reports Thursday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Stevens averaged 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game during the 2022 season with the Chicago Sky.
- The 27-year-old spent the past three seasons with the Sky following her 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Dallas Wings.
- Stevens was selected at No. 6 by the Wings in the 2018 draft after finishing her collegiate career at UConn.
Backstory
Stevens had a pretty efficient season for the Sky last year, mostly coming off the bench. Most impressively: As her 3-point attempts nearly tripled, her percentage from long range increased to 36 percent. Stevens has a long career ahead of her and with the right pieces around her, she could lay the foundation for a franchise.
