Former Stanford center Lauren Betts will transfer to UCLA, she announced via social media Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:
- The No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2022 according to ESPN, Betts initially chose Stanford over Arizona State, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina, UCLA and UConn.
- During her freshman season, Betts appeared in 33 games for the Cardinal, averaging 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 rebounds.
- Stanford entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed but was eliminated in the second round after getting upset by No. 8 Ole Miss.
- UCLA advanced to the Sweet 16 before being knocked out of the tournament by South Carolina.

Back when Betts was deciding on which college she would initially attend, UCLA was among her final choices, so it’s not exactly surprising she’s joining the Bruins now.
UCLA now has perhaps the most intriguing collection of sophomores in the entire country.
