This past week was filled with a ton of great and exciting moments in the world of women’s soccer. There was the NWSL draft, European leagues resuming, and Australia’s and Mexico’s leagues going strong. Plus, we have so much to look forward to this week with the USWNT’s friendlies against New Zealand. So, without further ado, here’s the past week’s need-to-know women’s soccer news.

The NWSL draft took place last week, and it was one for the books! Angel City FC signed Alyssa Thompson, who was previously committed to playing at Stanford but forwent her college career to become a pro.
Kansas City made a trade with Gotham FC last minute to take Michelle Cooper second pick.
Overall there were a ton of great moments, and it’s exciting to preview the young talent we’ll be seeing in the NWSL this year.
Low of the Weekend
Beth Mead announced that her mother passed away last week. Our hearts go out to her and her family at this deeply sad time. However, one bright light is the immense support the soccer community has shown her.
