The first day of the 2025 Women’s College World Series is in the books. Now, we have teams that are facing elimination, as the second day of the tournament has the losers from Day 1 squaring off to send two teams packing.
The first game on Friday will feature No. 7 Tennessee taking on No. 3 Florida. The Lady Volunteers lost to Oklahoma in dramatic fashion in the first round, while the Gators dropped their opening game to Texas.
Tennessee went into the bottom of the seventh inning of their game vs. defending-champ Oklahoma with a 3-1 lead, but Ella Parker knocked a three-run walk-off home run to give the Sooners the win.

Florida didn’t have as exciting of a loss. The Gators fell to the Longhorns 3-0. Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan, who went 25-5 in the regular season, pitched a complete game shutout. Kavan was efficient, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out one on 98 pitches. The Gators will look to rebound on Friday and avoid elimination.
