Florida stunned Wisconsin, staging an upset over the Badgers in front of a record 17,000 Kohl Center crowd.
The Friday-night matchup broke the NCAA regular season attendance record, with Wisconsin fans showing up in big numbers to cheer on the reigning national champions.
The Gators, however, spoiled the historic night, downing the Badgers in a five-set thriller.
Merritt Beason led the charge for Florida, notching 21 kills and eight digs, while Gabbi Essix added ten kills.
Both sides put on solid performances, with Wisconsin and Florida finishing with a .115 hitting percentage.
“What a special environment this was,” Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield said despite the loss. “At some point down the road this will be a night that our players will never forget. To be able to play and people stand the entire time, lifting us up when we need it, that is what we’ve come to expect from Badger fans.
