Florida State downs No. 4 North Carolina women’s soccer, defending home-turf

The 2023 reigning national champs do not mess around when it comes to defending their home turf — especially not on Senior night. The No. 17 Seminoles outscored No. 4 North Carolina 4-2 in a highly anticipated conference matchup Friday night in front of a packed home crowd.

In the 50th meeting between the two ACC powerhouses, the Noles earned their first regular-season win over the Tar Heels since 2015 and extended a 25-home-game unbeaten streak dating back to the 2022 season.

FSU was relentless in the attacking third, putting up 26 shots, and seven corners. The Tar Heels fought hard, saving 13 of those shots and scoring back-to-back goals to level the score at two apiece just before the break. The second half was all Florida State though.
