Florida men’s basketball coach Todd Golden will continue coaching the Gators despite a now-public school investigation into accusations of sexual harassment and other misconduct.
A spokesperson for the athletic department released a statement Sunday saying Golden’s status is unchanged and that he’ll coach the team Monday night at home against Grambling State.
On Friday, a Florida student publication, The Alligator, reported that Golden is being investigated on complaints of sexual harassment and stalking involving multiple women. Two students corroborated some of the details to The Alligator, including an accusation that Golden sent lewd photos of himself.
Golden acknowledged the university’s investigation Saturday and said that he has been participating in the inquiry over the last month. He also said he’s consulting with attorney Ken Turkel about a potential defamation case.
The No. 21 Gators are 2-0 this season with double-digit wins over South Florida and Jacksonville.
Golden, 39, is in his third season at Florida. He previously spent three seasons as the head coach at San Francisco.
