A good ol’ flashback has become somewhat of a tradition here at theFashionSpot. Ahead of the imminent fashion festivity that is the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, we’re throwing back to the Fall 2014 season.
Raf Simons was the creative force behind Christian Dior, who ultimately split up his couture collection into eight sections and set out to give past concepts conjured up by Monsieur Christian Dior himself a modern twist. The late Karl Lagerfeld ingeniously incorporated cement and neoprene into the finale bridal look at Chanel, worn by a pregnant Ashleigh Good. The Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2014 couture show was full of slit dresses and exposed legs while at Viktor & Rolf, low-pile carpet was masterfully transformed into minidresses, cocooning capes and off-the-shoulder coats. Striking silhouettes of black worn with impossibly-high stilettos opened up Jean Paul Gaultier, with the famed French fashion designer (still the sole creative force behind his own eponymous house) ultimately inspired by all-things Vampires. Donatella Versace dialed up the gothic glam with her dark, glamorous and über-sexy Atelier Versace collection, debuting an array sequinned skin-tight dresses for the ultimate Versace vixen.
