Five potential hosts have expressed an interest in staging the Women’s European Championship in 2029, according to the competition’s organisers UEFA.
UEFA on Thursday announced it has received declarations of interest from Germany, Portugal, Poland, Italy — plus a proposed joint bid from Scandinavian nations Denmark and Sweden.
The host — or hosts — of the 15th edition of the competition will be decided by UEFA’s executive committee in December 2025.
Euro 2025 will be held in Switzerland, where holders and Euro 2022 hosts England will defend their crown having beaten eight-time champions Germany in extra time to win the country’s first major women’s tournament.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin confirmed in April last year that the executive committee had picked the Swiss bid over three others after three rounds of voting.
The other candidates were France, Poland and a four-nation Nordic project between Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
UEFA expects 150,000 fans to visit Switzerland for the tournament, which starts on July 2 and concludes with the final on July 27. Supporters have been told they will get free public transport with match tickets.
