Aryna Sabalenka hit the practice court on Tuesday and it definitely seems like the Belarusian is going to play at the Miami Open after tragically losing her boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov.
After initial reports from Belarus claimed that 42-year-old Koltsov suddenly died due to a detached blood clot, it was later revealed that was not the cause of death. When the Miami-Dade Police Department broke the silence on the Koltsov death, they said that they were investigating the case as “an apparent suicide.”
After arriving on the scene and concluding an early investigation, it was determined that Koltsov likely died after jumping off the balcony of his hotel. Also, the police said “no foul play” was suspected.
Throughout Tuesday, many believed it was just a matter of time before Sabalenka announced her withdrawal from Miami. But after the Miami-Dade PD statement, it was also reported that Sabalenka was planning on competing in Miami but that she would not be conducting post-match press conferences.
Later on Tuesday, world No. 2 Sabalenka was filmed during a practice session.
