The WNBA continues to grow in popularity, thanks in large part to young stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The two second-year players will face off in their season opener in Indiana on Saturday, May 17.
For the Fever, what a difference a superstar makes. Indy went from 13-27 in 2023 to 20-20 with Clark last year. SThe squad made the playoffs with the sixth-best record in the W, the franchise’s first postseason since 2016, but lost to the Sun in the first round. Now, Indiana has acquired Connecticut’s coach Stephanie White, who’s helped pick up game-changers like DeWanna Bonner, Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham.
Chicago, meanwhile, still has some work to do. The Sky finished 13-27 last season, but they capitalized at the 2025 WNBA Draft by adding three capable scorers in Ajša Sivka, Hailey Van Lith and Maddy Westbeld. Tyler Marsh also enters his first year as head coach of Chicago after two years as an assistant with the Aces.
