ESPN has published the ranking of the 100 best athletes of the 21st century, a ranking destined to generate, inevitably, controversy for some questionable choices. There is one in particular that I find truly senseless and that I will explain to you in the article.
It was considered a period of time relating to the last 25 years, from 2000 to today. In the ranking of the top 100 athletes in the world there are six tennis players, two of whom are in the Top-10, four in the Top-20.
Serena Williams is in 2nd position, behind only the swimmer Michael Phelps who is in 1st place overall in the ranking. There is also another tennis player in the top 10: Roger Federer, who is ranked 6th in this ranking.
Obviously, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are not missing, but they are – unlike Roger Federer – outside the Top-10. The Serbian champion is ranked 11th overall. The Spanish champion is ranked 12th.
