As January approaches, fantasy gymnastics players everywhere are planning their 200-gymnast draft lists. To give our readers a bit of an edge, we rounded up some freshmen who might be flying under your radar because they’re overshadowed by bigger names in their classes. Don’t sleep on them.
Gabi Ortiz, Michigan State
Ortiz has been featured heavily in Michigan State’s preseason posting. Her Yurchenko one and a half is spot on and stickable. She thrives on floor, too, and should certainly be on your draft list.
Quinn Kuhl, Clemson
If the Tigers’ gymnastics 101 showcase was any indication, Clemson is going to be a beam team. Freshman Kuhl could be a big part of that. Is drafting a beam specialist freshman risky? Maybe, but the payoff could be big.
Maddison Reidenbach, Denver
While she doesn’t have the name recognition of her classmate with (almost) the same first name, Reidenbach shows great promise for becoming a lineup staple, and looks to be someone who will build throughout the season. She’s the ideal gymnast to draft early, so she’ll already be on your roster when she breaks out, and you won’t have to join the waiver wire fray.
