On Monday, the Canadian government’s Heritage Committee will hear testimony from senior executives at Canada Soccer, the sport’s governing body in the country. They are expected to question the executives about how the organization is governed, following a year of protests from its men’s and women’s national teams and inquiries into one particular contract with an organization known as Canadian Soccer Business (CSB).

“It’s obvious there is a governance issue at Canada Soccer,” Anthony Housefather, a Liberal Member of Parliament and member of the Heritage Committee, told The Athletic.
If past form holds, it could be one of the most pivotal days in the modern history of soccer in Canada. The Heritage Committee grilled senior members of Hockey Canada in 2022 in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations. In December of that year, Hockey Canada elected a new board of directors.
