Eva Lys sounds off on WTA balls after injury abruptly ends her Seoul run

Eva Lys has joined in on criticizing the constant ball changes as the German tennis player is calling on the WTA to make changes after a shoulder injury forced her to retire from her Seoul match. On Thursday, world No 119 Lys retired to Marie Bouzkova in the round-of-16 after the Czech won the opening set with a 6-1 score.

After the match, 21-year-old Lys took to Instagram, where she blamed the constant ball changes for the shoulder injury she sustained. “Unfortunately had to retire today due to shoulder pain. I have been feeling amazing on court-which makes today’s outcome even more sad.

I think it is time for the @WTA to rethink the ball change throughout the tournaments. Adjusting every week has been really tough on a lot of players. I will try my best to recover as fast as I can. Hopefully I will see you in Cluj,” Lys wrote in a message posted on her Instagram Story.
