Eva Lys found a new creative way to tackle social media abuse as the German tennis player took a screenshot of one disgusting message and tagged the wife of the person so she could see it as well.
This week, the world No. 118 competed at a WTA 250 tournament in Osaka, where she lost in the qualifying but still made the main draw as a lucky loser.
After winning her opening two matches to reach the quarterfinal, the 22-year-old fell just short in her quarterfinal match after Aoi Ito came back from a set down to win 6-7 (8) 6-2 6-3.
As if dealing with a heartbreaking loss wasn’t already hard, Lys also had to deal with numerous insults that came from angry bettors.
“That was some coward s— you pulled off tonight,” one of the abusive messages that the former world No. 105 received read.
“Why is your man insulting a 22-year-old on Instagram?” the German wrote on her Instagram Story and also tagged the person’s wife.
