England to wear different armband during each World Cup matchday following One Love ban

England will wear a different captain’s armband during each Women’s World Cup matchday after FIFA prevented nations from wearing the One Love armband.

FIFA announced in June that, following discussions with the 32 participating nations at this summer’s tournament, it would be providing eight armbands sporting eight different social cause slogans for the tournament.

Players will face sporting sanctions if they wear the One Love armband or a rainbow armband as these are not “FIFA approved”, as was the case at the Qatar World Cup.

England have opted to wear the “Unite for Inclusion” armband for their opening group match against Haiti, the “Unite for Indigenous People” armband against Denmark and “Unite for Gender Equality” against China.

Players were keen to wear the “Unite for Indigenous People” armband after their interactions with Aboriginal communities since arriving in Australia.
