England have announced they will play Portugal in a pre-Women’s World Cup friendly at Stadium MK on July 1.
The match comes four days before Sarina Wiegman’s squad travel to Australia for their pre-tournament training camp.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that the planned friendly against Portugal had been in doubt, with England players told that they would not feature in the game if they did not report for a preparation camp on June 19.
The proposed start date for England’s training camp — June 19 — is four days earlier than world football’s governing body FIFA and the European Club Association’s recommended window of June 23 to June 29.
But the Portugal game, which will kick off at 3.15pm BST and be shown on ITV 1 in the UK, has now been confirmed.
