Emma Raducanu tells why some wins now mean more than ones from 2021 US Open

Emma Raducanu issued quite a statement after her big Miami Open triumph against Emma Navarro, revealing she values some of her current wins more than the ones that landed her historic 2021 US Open title.

The world No. 60, who picked up a couple of disappointing defeats in early 2025 before also enduring a traumatic experience with a stalker, ended victorious in a Miami second-round marathon, edging out the eighth-seeded American 7-6 (6) 2-6 7-6 (3). The match finished after two hours and 53 minutes and also marked the 22-year-old’s third top-10 win. 

And the win itself isn’t the only thing that made Raducanu thrilled – it’s the way she clinched it. With Navarro leading 6-5 in the third set and with a chance to serve out for the match, the Briton kept her composure – got the break back – then dominated the third-set tie-break to seal the win.

“It was a lot of emotions when I won. I know I won the US Open, but I think having been through so much in the last few years, it’s like the wins now mean so much more,” the world No. 60 stated.
