Emma Raducanu said it was “pretty amazing” to watch Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe go head-to-head in the Qatar World Cup final. Messi and Mbappe delivered an absolute show in the Qatar World Cup final, which had to be resolved via a penalty shoot-out.
Argentina had a 2-0 lead in the regular time, before Mbappe scored two late goals to tie the game to 2-2 and force overtime. In the overtime, Messi scored a goal for a 3-2 lead before Mbappe scored an equalizer to force a penalty shoot-out.
Messi and Mbappe made their penalty kicks but it was Messi’s Argentina who won the World Cup title. Raducanu, who was in the stands for the World Cup final, says she could definitely learn from watching how Messi and Mbappe handled the stage and the moment.
“To watch Messi and Mbappe go head-to-head was really cool. What Mbappe was able to do in that final was amazing. I’m really happy for Messi because he just finished it off perfectly. It was just so good to see how they kind of handled the stage and the moment.
I think you can learn from how they dealt with it, how they just kept going, how they were taking penalties under pressure. It was pretty amazing to watch,” Raducanu told the Daily Mirror.
