Emma Raducanu is set to lose her British No 1 ranking as either Katie Boulter or Katie Swan will be ranked ahead of the 2021 US Open champion on Monday. Raducanu, who entered this week ranked at No 107 in the world and is currently recovering from multiple surgeries, is set to drop around 20 places when the WTA rankings list gets updated on Monday.
On Friday, Boulter – ranked at No 125 in the world – defeated Viktorija Golubic 7-5 6-2 in the quarterfinal of an ITF event in Surbiton. With the win over Golubic, Boulter is guaranteed to be ranked ahead of Raducanu on Monday.
But Boulter may still not be the top-ranked Briton on Monday as Swan also has a shot. On Friday, world No 162 Swan defeated Tatjana Maria in the Surbiton quarterfinal. If Swan wins Surbiton, she will be ranked ahead of both Raducanu and Boulter on Monday.
Boulter or Swan set to overtake Raducanu
When this week started, Boulter, Swan and Jodie Burrage all had a shot at overtaking Raducanu. After Burrage lost in the Surbiton first round, Boulter and Swan were left with a chance to overtake Raducanu as the top-ranked British female player.
