Elina Svitolina has climbed 316 spots on this week’s updated WTA rankings list following her first victory as a mom. Svitolina, who gave birth last October and was out for 13 months before returning to action in April, entered Strasbourg ranked at No 508 in the world.
On Saturday, Svitolina saw off Anna Blinkova 6-2 6-3 in the final of a WTA 250 event in Strasbourg. The WTA 250 tournaments award 280 ranking points to the champion as Svitolina improved to No 192 in the world following her Strasbourg triumph.
Svitolina, a former world No 3, was ranked outside the top-1000 when she returned to tennis in April.
