Elina Svitolina says she has “a lot of respect” for Caroline Wozniacki’s decision to return to pro tennis at 33 and after having two kids. Wozniacki, the 2018 Australian Open champion and a former world No 1, retired from pro tennis at Melbourne Park in 2020.
After starting a family and welcoming two kids in the last two years, 33-year-old Wozniacki is back on the WTA Tour. Svitolina, 28, welcomed her first child in October and she returned to tennis in April after being sidelined for 13 months.
Svitolina’s post-pregnancy has been very inspiring as the Ukrainian has already won a WTA title and she also reached the Wimbledon semifinal.

“Yeah, I have a lot of respect for Caroline to come back after two.
It’s really a big challenge, and she’s a great fighter. I was not extremely surprised by her coming back because I feel like she wants to try again to accept this challenge for her personally, and I think it’s a great one. Yeah, it’s great that there is some girls after giving birth coming back.
