One of the contenders for the final victory of the Roland Garros is the Kazakh Elena Rybakina. Inserted in the bottom half and with a possible challenge in the semifinals with Aryna Sabalenka, Rybakina qualified for the quarterfinals of the Parisian Slam after beating Elina Svitolina in straight sets. Rybakina is, together with Sabalenka, the tennis player who can try to counter the excessive power of Iga Swiatek on clay.
At the on court interview after her victory against Svitolina, Rybakina, as a child, dreamed of winning Wimbledon, a tournament that she considers her favorite stage.
“Wimbledon is the greatest achievement. I think every Grand Slam is fantastic when the stadium is full, but obviously Wimbledon is something in my memories, it was a childhood dream,” she told
Rybakina then analyzed what details she needs to focus on to realize her other dream: becoming WTA No.1.
“Every time I play against Aryna or Iga, the difference is only between a couple of points. They are always difficult games. They are doing great too. So, in the end, it’s just competition. It also depends on the other players in the end, trying to be solid in these key moments,” she explained.
