Elena Rybakina feels her game is suited well for all surfaces and noted she is aiming for a deep French Open run. Rybakina, 23, had a 6-4 1-0 lead when Anhelina Kalinina retired their Rome final. After becoming a Grand Slam champion at Wimbledon and also winning her first WTA 1000 title in Indian Wells, Rybakina now also has a big clay title in her collection.
Going into the clay season, some wondered if Rybakina would be able to continue her strong season on a surface that is probably her weakest. But at a WTA 1000 event in Rome, Rybakina proved that she can be a strong force on clay as well.
“I think with my game, I can play good on all the surfaces. It’s just maybe for clay I need to be ready more physically and have a lot of preparation which I don’t always have the time for after the hardcourt season,” Rybakina said, the Malay Mail.

“The tournament is pretty long. Hopefully I can go far. I have good memories playing there. Now I’ve got more matches on clay, so it’s a bit easier and there’s a bit more confidence, definitely,” Rybakina said.
