Eilish McColgan documentary to air on BBC as she attempts to break mum’s marathon PB

Date:

BBC Scotland will air a 58-minute documentary following Eilish McColgan’s marathon journey as she attempts to break her mother Liz McColgan’s marathon record.

Eilish, who holds the British 5K record, European 10K record and British half marathon record, has beaten her mother Liz’s legendary PBs in all of the aforementioned road distances – leaving the marathon as her last milestone.

The documentary, directed by Alex Harron, highlights the mother and daughter’s unique story with candid interviews, incredible archival footage and behind the scenes filming.

Athletics fans were waiting with bated breath for Eilish’s marathon debut in London, which she was originally due to make in 2022 before delaying until 2023 after struggling with illness – but sadly, she had to withdraw earlier this year, too, due to a knee a injury.

Eilish McColgan: Running in the Family will air on BBC Scotland on Thursday 30th November and will be available on iPlayer shortly after airing.
