Following Canelo Alvarez’s win against Jaime Munguia, boxing will see another Mexico vs. Mexico clash on May 11. Super featherweights Eduardo Hernandez and Daniel Lugo face off in Mexico’s Palenque de la Feria in a bout that will air on DAZN.
In October, Hernandez (34-2) had his six-fight win streak snapped against O’Shaquie Foster in a WBC title bout. In what was later named The Sporting News’ 2023 Fight of the Year, Foster survived a top-tier effort from “Rocky” to score a knockout in the last round.
The 26-year-old has only fought three times outside of Mexico and is looking for another world title shot.
Lugo (27-2-1) is a rising star who has gone 3-0-1 since having his 21-fight win streak snapped in 2021. He fought former world champion Mauricio Lara to a draw in his last contest and could easily have won that decision.
