Jessica Pegula will play the semifinal at the WTA 500 in Adelaide where she will face the Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina. The American tennis player, seeded No.2, previously qualified for the quarterfinals of the Australian tournament – struggling more than expected – after beating Bernarda Pera.

After losing the first set, the WTA No.5 raised her level in the second set, managing to recover the match and prevail in 2 hours and 14 minutes with a score of 4-6 6-2 6-3. However, in the press conference the American did not appreciate a journalist’s question about her performance in the Grand Slam tournaments, in which she has never managed to go beyond the quarter-finals.

Jessica Pegula responds annoyed to the journalists

The 29-year-old American responded in a very angrily way to the journalists’ question about her results in her Majors: “Don’t ask me the same question, you know that my intention is to go beyond the quarterfinals. My goal is always to get to the second week, winning every game without looking too far ahead. If you don’t get to the second week, or if you lose in the first or third round, I don’t even see it as a failure.
