Rookie Sonia Citron, a 6’0″ guard out of Notre Dame, has made an immediate impact in her WNBA debut for the Washington Mystics. In the team’s regular season opener, Citron put up 19 points, two assists and two rebounds, proving she’s ready for the big stage. Her performance came after an impressive preseason where she showcased her scoring ability early.

But Citron wasn’t the only rookie making noise.

KiKi Iriafen, the 6’3” forward from USC, also made her mark in the first regular season game, contributing 14 points, four rebounds and two assists. She looked right at home in her debut, displaying the skills that made her a standout in college. Like Citron, Iriafen had a strong preseason, showing her potential to contribute immediately to the Mystics’ success.

Citron, selected third overall, and Iriafen, picked fourth, were back-to-back choices that are already paying off. The Mystics’ front office clearly saw something special in these two, and their performances so far have confirmed their faith.
