Denver group launches public effort to land pro women’s soccer team – Equalizer Soccer

Jordan Angeli grew up playing in Colorado before forging a professional career. Now, as a broadcaster, she watches Colorado natives like Sophia Smith and Mallory Swanson thrive in the National Women’s Soccer League and with the United States women’s national team.

Angeli wears Colorado on her sleeve. Speak with her for only a minute or two, and that is clear. For years, she says, people would ask her: Why isn’t there a professional women’s team in Colorado?  

“I would say, ‘I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense that we don’t have one,’” Angeli tells The Equalizer.

Now, she’s part of an effort to answer the question with action. On Tuesday, a group known as “For Denver FC” launched a public campaign aiming to bring a first-division women’s professional soccer team to Denver, Colorado, in the coming years.
