These women’s basketball players posted big-time performances and were named to the NCAA.com starting five this week.
En’Dya Buford, Old Dominion
Old Dominion senior guard En’Dya Buford led the Monarchs in scoring with 42 points (21.0 points per game) in wins over Appalachian State and Georgia State.
On Feb. 22 against Appalachian State, Buford finished with 17 points while shooting 5-for-11 from the field and added two rebounds, three assists, one steal and a block in leading Old Dominion to an 81-62 win.
On Saturday at Georgia State, she set a new career-high of 25 points while shooting 9-for-12 from the field, 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line, and 4-for-6 at the free throw line. Buford also grabbed nine rebounds and added three assists and three steals. Old Dominion led by only five points at halftime and the Panthers used a late third quarter run to trail 54-47 early in the fourth period. That’s when Buford scored five straight points to open up an 11-0 response that solidified the win for the Monarchs.
