Simona Halep was disqualified for four years due to testing positive for Roxadustat, a substance prohibited by the regulation, and some irregularities in the biological passport. A sentence that took the Romanian by surprise, who according to her was the victim of an obvious injustice.
Halep, in an interview with Front Office Sports, explained: “I was confident after the hearing, because there were so many things that didn’t make sense. When I was told their decision, I was completely annoyed. I couldn’t believe it.
that they had suspended me for four years. They found nothing wrong with my blood tests. It’s crazy that they made this decision despite all the evidence my legal team shows. They have no proof.” Darren Cahill, coach of the Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, expressed his opinion regarding the issue, explaining that what is written in the published report condemning the Romanian tennis player, was not done by the two-time Slam champion.
He explained: “Simona didn’t do any of what’s been suggested in that report. CAS has always been the proper place to hear this case.”
