Danilovic magic continues in Paris with upset over Vekic

Serbian qualifier Olga Danilovic displayed incredible tenacity and skill to secure her place in the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time in her career. Within 24 hours, Danilovic overcame two high-profile opponents in grueling matches. On Thursday, she staged a remarkable come-from-behind victory against world No.10 Danielle Collins, winning in three sets. Returning to the court on Friday, Danilovic battled past world No.40 Donna Vekic in another intense encounter.

Ranked world No.125, Danilovic faced a challenging start against Vekic, losing the first set 6-0. However, she demonstrated resilience in the second set, holding her serve until the twelfth game, where she managed to break Vekic and take the set.

The third set was a dramatic showdown, marked by several long games and numerous deuces. Vekic initially took a 2-0 lead, but Danilovic saved three break points in her service game and broke Vekic at love to level the score at 3-3. The subsequent six games were fiercely contested, featuring four breaks and a total of 14 break points, pushing the match into a tiebreak.

In the tiebreak, Vekic surged ahead to a 6-2 lead and was just two points away from victory at 8-7. However, the resilient Danilovic fought back, edging the tiebreak 10-8 to secure a hard-fought win…
