Danielle Collins’ Miami Open fairytale has been capped off with a maiden WTA 1000 title as the 30-year-old American beat Elena Rybakina to seal the biggest triumph of her career.
Collins, who is 30 and retiring this season, beat world No. 4 Rybakina 7-5 6-3 in the Miami final for her first WTA 1000 title but also her first win against a top-5 player at the WTA 1000 level.
Considering the circumstances and that this was Collins’ last Miami run, many fans came to watch the final and show their support to the American tennis star. In the stands, there was also one very special guest, Andre Agassi – an American tennis icon and a former six-time Miami champion.
